My name is John, and I live in Ypsilanti, Michigan with Jane. Jane is a two-year-old bluetick coonhound whom I adopted on September 30, 2008. I found Jane online. She had been saved from certain death at the Shiawassee pound by Candy and Nancy of Broken Road Rescue in Bath, MI. Here’s a picture of us the day Jane came home with me.

Broken Road Rescue is a wonderful no-kill organization that saves, rehabilitates, and places unwanted, abused, and/or abandoned horses, dogs, and cats. Please send them all your money (you can make donations right at their site using PayPal) and consider adopting your next companion animal from them. If you are considering adopting an animal, please, please, please only adopt one who’s been rescued. The Humane Society of the United States estimates that 3-4 million dogs and cats are euthanized each year in this country. Buying a dog from a breeder contributes directly to this problem. Always adopt from a shelter. The life you save will change yours. I promise.
